Paint Correction — Fort Worth & DFW
Paint correction is machine polishing that levels your clear coat to remove the defects trapped inside it. Not a wax. Not a sealant. Permanent removal — once a swirl or scratch is polished out, it's gone.
The clear coat on your car is a thin protective layer over the base paint. Defects — swirls, scratches, etching, oxidation — live in that layer. Paint correction uses machine polishers and progressively finer compounds to shave down the surface of the clear coat until it's flat, smooth, and reflective again. We use paint depth gauges to measure how much clear coat you have before starting, which determines how aggressive we can safely be and whether multi-stage correction is possible on your vehicle.
What Paint Correction Fixes
Swirl Marks Circular scratches visible under direct or artificial light. Usually from automatic washes, dirty microfibers, or improper wash technique.
Water Spot Etching Mineral deposits that eat into the clear coat and won't wash off. Common in Fort Worth's hard water environment.
Light to Moderate Scratches Clear coat level scratches that haven't reached base paint. Fingernail test — if it doesn't catch, it can be corrected.
Oxidation Dull, chalky, faded paint from prolonged UV exposure. Especially common on older vehicles and any color that sits in direct Texas sun.
Buffer Trails & Holograms Marring left by rotary polishers or inexperienced detailers. Highly visible under harsh lighting.
Bird Drop & Chemical Etching Acidic damage from bird droppings, tree sap, or industrial fallout that bonded to and etched into the clear coat.
Paint correction is not wax or sealant — it's permanent removal of defects from the clear coat itself. It also doesn't protect your paint from new damage. That's what ceramic coating or ceramic coating boost service is for.
Paint Correction Pricing — Fort Worth, TX
Three stages based on how much defect removal your paint needs. More stages don't always mean better results — the right stage depends on your paint's condition and what standard you want to reach.

Single Stage Correction
$450+ starting
SUVs & trucks: add $200–$400
40–50% Defect Removal⏱ 4–6 hours (sedan)
One polishing step with a finishing polish and pad. Removes light marring and swirling and significantly improves gloss — not flawless, but noticeably better. Best for newer vehicles with light surface defects, or vehicles where good is the goal rather than perfect.

Two Stage Correction
$650+ starting
SUVs & trucks: add $200–$400
70–85% Defect Removal⏱ 8–12 hours (sedan)

Paint Correction & Ceramic Coating
Paint correction and ceramic coating are designed to work together — and in that order. Understanding why changes how you think about both services.
Correction Removes Defects — It Doesn't Protect
Paint correction polishes out every swirl, scratch, and water spot from your clear coat. Your paint is gloss, smooth, and clean. But that clean surface is now exposed to the same elements that created the damage in the first place. Without a protective layer, the cycle starts over.
Coating Protects — But Can't Fix What's Underneath
Ceramic coating bonds to your paint and provides hydrophobic protection, UV resistance, chemical resistance, and a harder surface that resists future light marring. The problem: coating over uncorrected paint doesn't hide defects. The coating's high gloss actually amplifies every swirl and scratch underneath it — permanently sealing them in.
Correction + Coating Is the Complete Answer
Correct the paint first, then coat it. Correction gives you a perfect surface. Coating protects that surface and keeps it looking correct for years. Our three-stage correction package includes ceramic coating in the price — it's the complete paint protection package in one service.
If you coat without correcting first: every swirl mark and defect in your paint gets permanently locked in under the ceramic layer — and the gloss of the coating will make them more visible, not less.
How It Works
Six steps from drop-off to pickup. No shortcuts. No spray wax to fake a result.
Paint Inspection Under LED Lighting
We examine every panel under a high-intensity LED bar to identify every defect type and severity before touching the paint. We also use a paint thickness gauge to measure your clear coat depth across the vehicle. This determines what correction is safe and what stage is appropriate — we won't oversell you on three-stage if two-stage gets you where you want to be.
Wash and Decontamination
Full hand wash, clay bar treatment to remove bonded contamination, and iron remover if needed. Polishing dirty paint doesn't correct it — it just moves contamination around and introduces new marring. This step is non-negotiable regardless of how recently the vehicle was washed.
Test Panel
We test compound and pad combinations on a hidden panel — usually the roof or a door jamb — to dial in exactly the right process for your specific paint before committing to the whole car. Factory paint varies enormously in hardness and thickness. The test panel prevents surprises.
Machine Polishing — Panel by Panel
We work across the vehicle panel by panel using a dual-action or rotary polisher, depending on the paint and the correction stage. Cutting passes remove the defects. Finishing passes refine the surface and maximize gloss. Each panel gets the attention it needs — not a single pass over the entire car.
IPA Panel Wipe
An isopropyl alcohol wipe removes polishing oils from every panel. Polishing oils temporarily fill and mask imperfections — removing them lets us see the true corrected finish and confirms the result is real, not product-filled. This is also the mandatory prep step if ceramic coating follows.
Final LED Inspection
We check every panel again under direct LED lighting to confirm the correction meets the standard we quoted. If something doesn't look right, we address it before handoff. You inspect the vehicle before you take it — we want you to see exactly what we see under the lights.
No shortcuts. No spray waxes to fake gloss. Just corrected paint.
Common Questions
Paint correction in Fort Worth starts at $450 for single-stage on a standard sedan, $650 for two-stage, and $1,700 for three-stage. SUVs and trucks add $200 to $400 depending on size and paint condition. These are starting prices — heavily damaged paint, vehicles requiring wet sanding, or larger vehicles will be priced higher. We provide a flat-rate quote after a free in-person paint inspection. We don't quote over the phone because we can't see the paint from here.
Paint correction removes scratches that are contained within the clear coat. The easiest test: run your fingernail across the scratch. If it doesn't catch, the scratch is in the clear coat and can be polished out. If your fingernail catches, the scratch has penetrated through the clear coat to the base coat or primer — that can't be corrected with polishing and requires touch-up paint or a respray. The majority of scratches on daily-driven vehicles are clear coat level and are fully correctable.
Single-stage paint correction takes 4 to 6 hours for a standard sedan. Two-stage correction takes 8 to 12 hours. Three-stage correction takes 16 to 20 or more hours depending on vehicle size and the severity of paint defects. SUVs, trucks, and vans add time at every stage. Paint correction done correctly is slow, methodical work — we do not rush it. Plan for a full day at minimum, and two days for three-stage work.
Paint correction removes defects — it's a subtractive process that polishes the clear coat to restore gloss. Ceramic coating adds protection — it's a bonded layer that protects the paint surface from UV, chemicals, and light scratching going forward. Paint correction fixes what happened in the past. Ceramic coating protects against what happens next. The correct sequence is always correction first, then coating — applying a ceramic coating over uncorrected paint permanently locks in every defect and the high gloss of the coating makes them more visible.
The right stage depends on three factors: how severe the defects are, how much clear coat remains, and what standard you want to reach. Single-stage works for light swirling on paint that's in generally good shape. Two-stage handles moderate swirls, scratches, and water spot etching — this is the most common recommendation for daily drivers. Three-stage is for heavy defects, neglected paint, or show car level goals. We measure your paint depth and inspect under LED lighting before recommending a stage. We will never recommend three-stage if two-stage achieves the result you're after.
